Hot Toddy–Here we go!

If you live in the northern hemisphere, you might be experiencing something called WINTER. Holy icicles on my mask, it’s been cold and snowy here in Chicago!! With the cold, also comes with DRY AIR. I hate it! I’m always clearing my throat and somehow I manage a runny rose? Better go catch it!…..

May I present, my version of a Hot Toddy! I’ve never been able to drink so much whiskey in one setting with this little tasty gem!

Hot Toddy
Hot Toddy me up! Shout out to the Walnut Room at Macy’s for selling the only glasses I have that can support hot drinks!

Hot Toddy Recipe

  • 1 mug (current glass holds about 1.3 oz of liquid for your reference)
  • 2 oz Whiskey (Bullet is my jam)
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • splash of simple syrup
  • 1 oz lemon juice (juice from a lemon wedge if you’re lucky to have lemons in the house!)
  • powdered cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Get your hot water ready! Whether you’re heating it up on the stove, microwave, or electric water kettle, this takes TIME. So start it now.
  2. Pour your lemon juice, honey, simple syrup, whiskey, and two dashes of cinnamon powder all in your glass/mug.
  3. MIX while you wait for the water to boil.
  4. Fill the rest of your mug with water. Done.

Extras:
If you happen to have a slice of lemon, add that ish in there! Feel like throwing away cinnamon sticks? Add it in there if you want the aroma! If you don’t like the bite from whiskey, you can always substitute with Rum or only add 1.5 oz of whiskey. This is just a perfect blend of flavors for me and I love it. Cures my scratchy throat and puts me in a good mood. I’ll have a few more!

While I have you, one of the best places I’ve had a Hot Toddy (and other drinks might I add…) is at Tweet in Uptown. If you haven’t been there and you live in the area, please give them a visit! While social distancing and all that jazz. https://www.bigchicks.com/ The Hot Toddy isn’t on their regular menu, but they might be able to make it for you if you ask nicely 🙂
