Hot Toddy–Tequila!

Oh, hello again. While I hold whiskey dear to my heart, Tequila is right next to it. I couldn’t help while writing and putting together my whiskey hot toddy how tequila would taste in one of these–I was also running out of lemons and had a hefty stock of limes! Now, hot tequila doesn’t sound so appealing, but don’t be scared! It’s quite delish once you sort the portions πŸ™‚

If you haven’t checked out my whiskey hot toddy formula, please browse at your leisure here πŸ™‚ https://katd0m.com/2021/02/10/hot-toddy-recipe/

I wish I had a proper ‘ponche’ mug but my lovely glass substitute will have to do until then.

I know this looks VERY familiar so I threw in a spoon and a lime wedge πŸ˜€ There’s tequila in this one I promise!

Hot Toddy Tequila Recipe

  • 1 mug (current glass holds about 1.3 oz of liquid for your reference)
  • 2 oz Tequila (DON’T JUDGE I used Mr. Cuervo’s Resposado for this one)
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • splash of simple syrup
  • 1 oz lime juice (juice from a half a lime)
  • powdered cinnamon
  • dash of angostura bitters

Instructions:

  1. Get your hot water ready! Whether you’re heating it up on the stove, microwave, or electric water kettle, this takes TIME. So start it now.Β
  2. Pour your lime juice, honey, simple syrup, tequila, two dashes of cinnamon powder, and one dash of angostura bitters all in your glass/mug.Β
  3. MIX while you wait for the water to boil.
  4. Fill the rest of your mug with water. Done.

If you haven’t seen a pattern yet, my drinks are for folks that want to have a tasty drink with no frills. I understand aromas are important, but it shouldn’t haven’t to be a show. I work a 9-5 job and it’s NOT making cocktails (though, I’ve thought about it!) so I just want to have a simple but complex tasting drink and relax. Then drink a few more πŸ™‚

Hope you enjoy!
